How Are Used Car Prices Set? Vehicle Valuation Guide for Turkey 2026

Understand used-car value through model, specification, mileage, damage, service history, condition, inspection and comparable market evidence.

A used car's value cannot be determined from model year and mileage alone. Two cars of the same make, model and age may differ because of trim, maintenance history, damage, tyres, colour, regional demand and sale conditions. Reliable valuation combines comparable listings with the actual condition of the car.

Make, model and specification

Powertrain, transmission, trim and factory options affect demand. The purchase cost of aftermarket accessories may not return in full at resale. Comparisons should use the same specification wherever possible.

Model year, registration and mileage

Model year and first registration date may differ. Mileage should be read with usage and maintenance records. Inspection, service and invoice histories help test consistency.

Damage record and inspection

A recorded damage value is influenced by the parts and labour prices at the time of repair. Review the event date, replaced panels, chassis and structural areas rather than relying on the total alone. Our guide to inspection and damage records explains the distinction.

Maintenance and mechanical condition

Documented servicing and upcoming costs for tyres, brakes, battery, clutch, transmission or turbo can materially change near-term ownership cost. Evidence is more valuable than a general claim that a car is “well maintained.”

Asking price is not sale price

Online listings show seller expectations, not completed transaction prices. Old, incorrectly specified or unrealistic adverts can distort an average. Compare a sufficient group with similar location, mileage, trim and history.

Market factors in 2026

Credit conditions, new-car campaigns, tax and regulatory changes, energy cost and seasonal demand may move the used market. A valuation from months ago should not replace current evidence.
