How Is a Vehicle Sold at a Notary in Türkiye? 2026 Guide
A step-by-step guide to documents, insurance, ownership checks, secure payment, notary transfer and post-sale handover.
A vehicle sale becomes legally effective through the notary transfer. The buyer and seller should nevertheless complete document, vehicle, payment and delivery checks before signing.
Before the appointment
- Verify identities and the seller’s authority
- Match registration, plate, chassis and vehicle details
- Check tax, lien, seizure and sale restrictions
- Review inspection, insurance and any required current policy
- Agree the price and prepare the Secure Payment System
At the notary
The notary checks the parties and official records, prepares the sales deed and reads the terms. The buyer must verify the vehicle, sale price and identity information before approval. Ownership transfers after signatures and completion of the official transaction.
Secure payment
For applicable second-hand motor-vehicle sales, the price is held within an authorised secure-payment channel and released to the seller after the notary confirms transfer. Reference, party, plate and amount information must match exactly.
After the sale
Keys, spare key, equipment, service records and agreed accessories should be handed over with a written record. The buyer should confirm registration, insurance and tax responsibilities immediately.
The Toruklar Group approach
Toruklar Group values transparency as much as speed. Vehicle history, inspection findings, price, payment and handover scope should be visible and understood by both parties.
Rules and notary practice can change. Confirm current requirements with the notary, insurer and authorised institutions on the transaction date.
